- Hong-Ou-Mandel (HOM) interferometer:
- A two-photon interference effect in quantum optics. When two identical single photons enter a 1:1 beam splitter, if their temporal overlap of the photons on the beam splitter is perfect, the two photons will always exit the beam splitter together in the same output mode.(both D1 or D2 in the figure below)
- If two photons are indistinguishable, their probability of coincidence count will approach zero, as shown in the chart.
